Oscar-winner David Seidler, writer of ‘The King’s Speech,’ passed away at 86, leaving a legacy of diverse film work.

The famous author and Oscar-winning film writer David Seidler, who won an Oscar for his movie The King’s Speech, made a movie about it. For his role as the king in the 2010 movie, Colin Firth got both the Bafta and the Oscar for best actor. He also wrote the play based on the movie, which opened in 2012 in the West End.

Siedler was born in 1937 and moved to the US during the Blitz and World War II. He went to Cornell University and wrote dubs for Japanese monster movies. The biopic Onassis: The Richest Man in the World won him his first Writers Guild award, and he co-wrote Francis Ford Coppola’s comedy drama Tucker: The Man and His Dream. The West End stage version of The King’s Speech has been performed on four continents and translated into more than six languages.

He was best known for making the Oscar-winning movie The King’s Speech. He was born in 1937 and moved to the US during the Blitz and World War II.

He went to Cornell University and was friends with Thomas Pynchon, an American author. Seidler’s first jobs in the entertainment business were writing dubs for Japanese monster movies and getting his start on TV with the 1960s show Adventures of the Seaspray.

He wrote other things too, like the animated shows The King and I, Quest for Camelot, and Madeline: Lost in Paris.

Seidler got his first Writers Guild award for the biopic Onassis: The Richest Man in the World, which came out in 1988 and starred Raul Julia as the Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis.

Also, Francis Ford Coppola wrote the comedy-drama Tucker: The Man and His Dream, which came out in 1988. His most well-known work was The King’s Speech, which told the story of how King George VI overcame his stutter and became friends with speech therapist Lionel Logue.

The play “The King’s Speech” on the West End stage has been translated into more than six languages and has been seen in four countries. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, it was not possible to get ready to be on Broadway in 2020. Seidler wrote about life, love, death, and being born again. At the time of his death, he was working on several projects, such as documentaries, limited shows, and full-length movies.
