On Sunday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) declared the Sri Lanka Cricket suspension would be lifted immediately.
SLC was suspended in November due to significant violations of its ICC Member duties, specifically, the need to conduct business independently and guarantee that the government does not meddle in the regulation, administration, or governance of Sri Lankan cricket. After keeping an eye on the matter during the suspension, the Board is now specific that SLC is no longer in violation of its membership commitments.
The ICC said in a statement that “Sri Lanka will no longer host the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024, which will now be held in South Africa,” but that “funding to SLC will be controlled by the ICC Board.”The 15th ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup 2024 will be hosted by South Africa instead of Sri Lanka due to the suspension.
