Trump met with Elon Musk, a millionaire, over the weekend in Florida. The former Republican president is looking for a lot of money to help his re-election campaign.
Musk, a wealthy entrepreneur born in South Africa, has said on social media that he doesn’t want Joe Biden, who beat Trump in 2020, to win a second term in November. He hasn’t said if he plans to give Trump money, though.
Musk has long tried to present himself as politically neutral, but he has said in the past that he will vote for Biden in 2020. But since then, he has said bad things about the president and his staff.
Musk said last year that he wouldn’t vote for Biden again, and he has made it clear that beating the president is important to him.
There will be a meeting in Palm Beach, Florida. Trump is behind Vice President Joe Biden in collecting money.

Trump met with Elon Musk, one of the richest people in the world, and several wealthy Republican donors on Sunday. He hopes to have a one-on-one conversation with Musk soon, who is the CEO of both Tesla Inc. and SpaceX and the owner-executive chairman of X, the social media platform that used to be called Twitter.
Recent decisions against Trump in a civil fraud case in New York and a separate defamation trial have hurt his personal wealth. He is now trying to get more big donors to support his presidential campaign.
In November, the White House called Musk’s tweet “abhorrent” because it was seen as antisemitic and showed he didn’t care. Musk’s mother said in December that the president was getting in the way of the billionaire’s plans to make the world a better place.
Musk’s net worth to be around $200 billion. This means that he has more than enough money to almost completely cancel out Biden and his supporters’ huge financial edge over Trump in the 2024 general election.
In a report to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) last month, Trump’s campaign said that his cash on hand dropped from about $33 million a month earlier to just over $30 million as he ran successful Republican primary campaigns.
In a separate report to the FEC, Biden said that his campaign had about $56 million in cash at the end of January, up from $46 million in December. He has had a less competitive race for the Democratic Party’s candidate.
