A jury in Denver gave a grandmother $3.76 million (£2.9 million) after police searched her home based on a fake Find My iPhone ping to find stolen goods.
It was found that there was no “probable cause” for the raid, which was against her civil rights. The grandmother had to leave her house in her pajamas and wait in the police car.
The raid was done without a good reason, and the jury said it broke her constitutional rights.
She got $1.26 million in payment damages and $2.5 million in punitive damages.
The ACLU of Colorado called the $3.7 million payment “a small step toward justice” and said that the grandmother and her home are still hurting from what happened.
