Mural of Taylor Swift sparks outrage in Sydney 2024

Swift wears a low-cut red dress and a diamond 87 pendant in the mural on Sydney’s CBD’s Crown Street, representing her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s NFL jersey number.

Renowned street artist Scottie Marsh painted the piece on Little Oxford Street, which is located at the intersection of Crown Street in Sydney’s Central Business District.

Posting it on social media on Monday generated a variety of responses.  Some people thought it was an inaccurate portrayal of the pop star.

Swift’s blue eyes stare out at the spectator as she is dressed in a red spaghetti-strap top with her wavy blonde hair flowing over her left shoulder. A shimmering “87” pendant around her neck pays homage to her lover, Travis Kelce, a tight end with the Kansas City Chiefs, whose jersey number is 87. Artist Scottie Marsh, who also posted a picture of the star on his Instagram account with the simple remark, “Tay Tay fever.” has labeled the bottom left of the mural.

Swift avoided the limelight in Melbourne, but people spotted her twice in Sydney, at the Sydney Zoo and the Pellegrino 2000 restaurant in Surry Hills.

Swift is lodging at Crown’s presidential villa in Barangaroo, which has lovely views of the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Kelce is rumored to be ending his Super Bowl festivities and heading to a reunion with Swift.

According to TMZ, the three-time Super Bowl champion was on a private jet headed for Sydney on Wednesday morning.

Swift performed in front of roughly 290,000 people during her three sold-out gigs in Melbourne last week. Tens of thousands more people queued outside the MCG to see her play.

In an attempt to make the most of the situation, fans who had not purchased tickets flocked in droves outside the venue to listen. They dubbed the practice “Taylor-gating,” a parody of “tailgating.”

Overall, the Eras Tour has sold about 620,000 tickets in Australia, with an estimated benefit to Melbourne’s economy of over $1 billion.

Additionally, fans have traveled from all over Australia to Sydney and Melbourne via plane, which has increased the number of passengers on flights into the two cities by 30% during the concert period compared to the same period in 2023.

Qantas extended their schedule by more than 60 flights, or 11,000 seats, and when tickets went on sale, their bookings soared by 1,500%.
