After widespread cellular outages in the U.S., AT&T restored service for its customers.

Many AT&T customers reported a major cellular outage beginning early Thursday morning.

The carrier stated Thursday night that the outage, which left thousands without service for hours, was the result of a procedure error rather than a cyberattack.

According to Downdetector, more than 30,000 AT&T customers reported service outages shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Thursday. As of 8 a.m., over 70,000 users have reported service interruptions.

We’ve restored wireless service to all of our affected customers. We truly regret it for them. Keeping our customers connected is our top concern, and we are making efforts to guarantee this does not happen again in the future.

Other cellular companies, such as Verizon, T-Mobile, and Cricket Wireless, have also experienced problems. Verizon and T-Mobile stated that those affected had attempted to contact AT&T customers.

T-Mobile confirmed early Thursday that there was no network interruption.

Verizon stated Thursday morning that the outages are not affecting its network directly, but rather users attempting to contact another carrier.

Cricket Wireless, owned by AT&T and operating on its network, also encountered cellular problems. More than 13,500 subscribers have reported disruptions as of 8 a.m. ET Thursday. By 10 a.m., the number had dropped to roughly 10,000.

“Allow us to explain that there is a nationwide network incident impacting multiple services,” the business said in a blog post. “It is Cricket’s top priority to restore service to full capacity as quickly and safely as possible.”

AT&T has restored service to all affected customers.
